Samsung Electronics America has announced the retail availability of the Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB), a 34-inch premium gaming monitor with curved (1800R), Ultra-WQHD (3,440 x 1,440 resolution) OLED panel that offers a 0.03 ms response time, 175 Hz refresh rate, and what the company has described as life-like image quality. That isn't a horrible price for OLED, imo.

If it were 5760x2160 I'd seriously consider it, and I'm not a huge wide-format fan.

So long as LG and Samsung refuse to use proper sub-pixel layouts for their 'monitor' releases (which is possible, as demonstrated by JOLED), I'm standing by needing 150% the resolution that I'd accept in an IPS display. Just so that I could turn scaling to 150% in the OS and so that text would be comfortably readable.

I've suffered through enough VA panels with TV-oriented sub-pixel arrays to have to pay to read crappily-rendered text again...
