Samsung Launches World’s First 115″ Micro RGB TV, 500 Hz OLED Gaming Monitor, and Two New Additions to the Odyssey G7 Series

"a 1440p 27″ OLED gaming display. The Odyssey OLED G6 is the world’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor. Using QD-OLED technology and priced at $999.99, it is designed to provide crisp image quality along with an amazingly fast refresh rate."

FUKITY FUKITY FUK FUK! This is NOT a gaming monitor! 500Hz means garbage all! 4K 43" QD-OLED at better than 200Hz and we'll talk. 1440P in 2025! Samsung gives me aneurysm!

/Rant!!!!!!! 😡🤬💩

It's not for you. It's for me that plays FPS's and wants high refresh rates to match my high frame rates.

I mean I don't need it. I want it.

and somehow that want it going to turn into a need.

Yeah, I need this in my bedroom. For sure.

Didn't they used to call 'micro RGB' 'micro LED'? I've been watching this tech on and off for the last 8 years or so. I'd seen 'The Wall', which is mini LED IIRC, but missed that they were this close to the micro LED. Supposed to be the thing that ultimately dethrones OLED...when they can get the costs down. Cool to see it is finally becoming available!

Different tech. MicroLED is a full LED panel. Yes, once they get these things small enough they'll replace OLED.

What they're doing here with microled's is using them as backlighting. Just a super dense full array of RGB lighting for even more contrast control.

Ahh, okay. Thanks; will need to go read more about it.

edit: that's what I get for not going to the full article!

I agree that refresh rate shouldn't be the priority if you are looking for image quality. At 4K using max settings most games aren't going to hit 500FPS unless they are super old or something.

It isn't as though Samsung doesn't have other offerings that are more in line with what you want though.

OLED since 2017 for me. My current media room TV (LG C2) has a very clean screen, so should be good to go for a while. Really curious if they can make a true micro LED display work and at a reasonable price.

It'll happen soon enough I'm sure.

Samsung already has MicroLED TV displays, but they're huge, and the cheapest smallest 89" one is $110k. 101" is $130k.

Problem isn't whether they can, it's cost and complexity of producing microLED's at scale. Plus they need to make them smaller, another challenge, to produce smaller display sizes.

My LG hits 10 yrs soon - still rocking that old school OLED

Won’t lie - son left the PlayStation on overnight at the login so there is some burn in a few years back, but it’s only noticeable under specific conditions, so … still watching Netflix with it.

One of these years I’ll finally put it to pasture but I kinda like thinking I’m getting my moneys worth out of it
