Silver Rain Games Signs Major Deal with EA

Electronic Arts has partnered with Silver Rain Games to bring more content to its EA Originals label, which allows independent studios to deliver games they are passionate about with funding and publishing support. The label has resulted in titles such as A Way Out, Rocket League, Fe, Unravel, and It Takes Two.

Silver Rain Games was co-founded by Abubakar Salim and Melissa “Mel” Phillips in 2019. It is currently working on its first IP, which was announced in August 2020. Silver Rain Games’ slogan is “Creating narratives to empower players.” The title and details for its first project have not been revealed. Since its creation, the studio has grown to around 20 employees.

Is that EA taking credit for Rocket League, or is that some editorializing that went wrong? Because EA completely passed on the pitch for the game back in 2011.

EA turned down Rocket League, according to a Psyonix dev

EA's search for "the next Rocket League" could have been, well, Rocket League.
