As if PC enthusiasts don’t have enough challenges with ongoing hardware shortages, someone has actually tried selling GPU loot boxes on Amazon’s Japan storefront. Evidently, it was only a matter of time before someone combined the two to further capitalize on gamers. The mystery box makes no promise about what one could get other than it will be a graphics card.

This is exciting shopping!!!Enjoy the thrill of unpacking! This is an adventure about courage and good luck! All the products in our box are selected at random. This is an amazing charm. Each box contains a graphic card (graphics card contains used and new, GeForce 30 Series and RX6000 are brand new. )No one knows what style you received before opening the box...

I wonder what the cost of these loot boxes are. I mean, if you are only paying $100 for one of these things it's potentially a decent deal. You'd probably get something worth at least that $100. However, if they are $500 and you end up with a GeForce FX 5200, then that's not a good deal.

Supposedly they are 100$ so chances of you getting something utterly crappy are pretty high. Not sure what would be better, some crappy new GT710 or a more modern 2nd hand GPU that has been mined with to within an inch of it's life.

Tons of GPU's would be worth $100 at least. Of course, there are some cards that would be so old and slow as to be nearly worthless, but odds are you'd probably get something that you wouldn't feel too ripped off about. That being said, I'm sure there are people out there that bought more than one of these trying to get lucky and got absolutely screwed in doing so.
