Sony’s New Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection Boxset Leaves Out 2016 Film

Sony has announced a new Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection boxset that includes Ghostbusters: Afterlife but leaves out the 2016 film. Details for the boxset have not been released, but there are packaging shots.

With no details included in the listing yet, here’s what the box appears to include: the 1984 Ghostbusters movie, a reprinting of the 1985 book Making Ghostbusters by Don Shay, which details the production of that original movie right down to notes accompanying the script (and is described by the Patreon Ghostbusters News as a “highly rare, holy...

I was looking around VUDU yesterday and they've got the same 3-film combo there as well.
 
They shouldn't have this piece of **** included with the rest. This film ignored the first two and created its own continuity. All it did was attempt to insult and humiliate the original cast. The toxic *******s who made this film treated fans of the original badly and lashed out via social media when the movie bombed or anyone express concerns about it.

Not including this financial flop and failure among the fans is no accident. Good riddance.
 
I always try to be open-minded but that movie really pissed me off too. I can stomach a lot of the various agendas out there but there was absolutely nothing to fix from the first movies in terms of any inclusion. They were not biased in any way that I can perceive so making that thing to try and make a statement was totally out of line.
 
Hmm maybe I need to watch it again. I remember watching it - it was a sub-average Ghostbusters, had a couple of cheap laughs, but I don't recall it screaming any agendas out at me. Then again, it's really really hard to compete with Aykroyd when he was at his peak, so it was a high bar.
 
The 2016 movie was a cash grab to me. Threw some SNL background actors along with Melissa McCarthy hoping it would rake in millions.
 
I didn't have a problem with the all-female cast, neither sexualizing "Thor", but it is a bad movie. As good as the SNL cast was doing SNL, they all kind of sucked in the movie. Melissa Mcarthy has alwyas been a hit or miss for me and no doubt she was a miss on this one.
 
BTW I think GB Afterlife would still be a good movie even if the original cast was just referenced and not actually cameoed. But having them was the icing on the cake with the cherry on top.
