Sony Pictures has confirmed that it will be developing at least three more Spider-Man movies in collaboration with Marvel Studios. The news comes from producer Amy Pascal, who told Fandango in a new interview about how the studio was already prepping for the next project. There’s bad news for Spider-Man fans who haven’t enjoyed Tom Holland’s take on the wall crawler, however—Pascal also revealed that the actor will remain in the lucrative role.

From Fandango’s report:

Fandango spoke with producer Amy Pascal, who was not only an integral part of the earlier Spider-Man film franchises starring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, but she was also a key figure in negotiating the game-changing collaboration between Sony Pictures, which owns the film rights for Spider-Man, and Marvel Studios, which makes films and TV shows...

Meh... I've heard the movies were good, haven't seen the recent ones. So maybe.

I heard a rumor that Disney bought the marvel rights back from Sony is that accurate?

Google cleared that up. Nope.

Pretty sure the higher-ups at Sony also knew that Holland has been a successful sell and pretty much nobody wants another recast-reboot, again, so soon. He's been into the part since day one and still keen on it and even said he wants to cross over to the Venom/Hardy storyline. There's also been detailed rumors about a maximum carnage story-arc, plus the development of the sinister six, so there's plenty of material to work with, not to mention that little end-credits scene from Let there be Carnage as teaser for what's coming.

Yeah, gotta have some AAA star to anchor the MU around, now that Iron Man is dead.
Seems like they're mostly doing that with Cumberbatch. I wouldn't necessarily call him AAA but Strange is in a lot of crossovers for forthcoming movies as they work on their multiverse story-arcs. Spidey is making rounds too though but I'm losing track of all the appearances Strange is lined up for: No way home, his own next movie, possibly Thor, possibly the Marvels, and I thought I heard of some kind of mystical-based project in the works as well with other magic based characters.

Yeah, Sony warmed up to Feige after they saw what his team could do with the character. Some day he might be exclusive to them again but for now there's enough cake for them both to eat. I forget how long, and how many projects, the current contract is good for and who knows if another will get signed after its up.

The rumors of how many projects Sony wants to do with the Spider-verse, after the success of Venom are kind of off the hook. I hope some of them don't come to pass because it's stretching the material a little too thin. Morbius is one of them and we'll just have to wait and see how that pans out. They may find that giving everyone and their dog a solo project isn't the best route after all.
