The lead programmer for the Reality Engine that brought DOOM to the Super NES/Famicom released the source code last week over on Github under the GPL v3.0 license. Under development the game was internally called "Project: Rage." It's mostly in assembly, which is to be expected in games from this era. Some interesting tidbits are in the code, such as possible input support for the SNES mouse and Super Scope. In the end only 16kb was left free on the 16Mb cartridge.

Wonder if we'll get a stand alone Doom SNES for Windows in the coming months?

The "remastered" standalone Mario 64 PC port is pretty freaking awesome.
