Star Wars Outlaws, the new action-adventure game from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment that stars outlaw scoundrel Kay Vess (Humberly González) and is set between the period between The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and The Return of the Jedi (1983), will be released on August 30, 2024, according to a now-removed description for a new story trailer that the Ubisoft Japan YouTube Channel accidentally published ahead its premiere later today.

Looks bland, uninspired, they tried to cram all the references in it, yet it feels nothing like Star Wars. Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Shadows of the Empire, etc felt like star wars with zero key jangles.

And they made the main character flatter than the flattest surface, for DEI.

The voice acting is... bland. The motion capture / lip-syncing is also off, which breaks engagement and screams limited budget / 'just ship something' sentiments.

So all of the above probably.

That said, I didn't really get into Fallen Order / Survivor until well after the first one was released, even after having played the demo at least a bit. Mostly took picking it up as a controller-first game in the living room, but the production quality there seems much higher than what's been shown for Outlaws.

Yeah, lipsync is bad, animations low quality, this feels like a AA game sold for AAAAAAAA price with microtransactions and season passes. I expect this to be another skull and bones blunder.
