Motive Studios’s creative director Ian Frazier has told Game Informer that Star Wars: Squadrons will have no microtransactions. That’s a pretty surprising development, being that the game costs only $40 and lets players customize their starfighters with numerous components (e.g., ion cannons, tractor beams, assault shields, and whatnot), which amounts to an ideal recipe for paid goods.



“Our mindset has been very old school,” Frazier said. “We’re trying to say with this game that we have a $40 price point, we want to feel generous to players, and we want it to feel like a complete experience. Aaaand it won't have it on Launch but give it 3-6 months after launch with people asking for 'custom designs' for their ships or something to help make them stand out in online game play and next thing you know. "Non stat effective customization options" will be available to buy for the game. They might not be 'in game' transactions but as DLC content or other content for the game itself that you can buy in small bite size chunks.

I Guarantee that this is coming without any doubt at all. As in ZERO doubt.
 
Remember when game developers gave mod tools to the community so they can create their own content for games and it was free for anyone?

This wasn't on my interest list, but I might buy it now just to reward that decision.
 
I will say, though, I'm looking forward to it as well. Keeping fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
