Based on the angles the curve is presented, I doubt that a top layer could be added, likey just sides.

I'm not necessarily opposed to dome shaped displays, but I think for them to work, they are going to have to be a lot bigger than just 31.5"

Might also require special game render modes to get the geometry of things displayed on screen right.

I agree. When I was using a curved TV as a monitor, I found it was fine. But sitting across the room from it, I didn't care for it and found it to be a complete gimmick. That said, around 50" more curve could help with the corners in making them more useful.
