Tesla Travels over 700 Miles on a Single Charge with New Prototype Battery

DTE rarely takes in to account reserve fuel. In my truck the EVIC can say 0 miles till empty, but there is roughly 50 miles of range left in the tank.

It's to keep idiots from running completely empty.
I've seen one car that dealt with that liability in an interesting way. It simply stopped showing the range. When it got bellow 50 the display switched to --

Mine when it gets to below 50, just reads "low fuel". I don't usually push that very often.

Nig saying I wouldn't want a ev. I want an affordable ev with high convenience. Equivalent or better than gas. That won't destroy my poor texas power grid.

I'd honestly love a PHEV for my wife - I think she's maybe hit a gas station up maybe 5 or 6 times a year if she had one. I'd even debate replacing my truck with one, but I think the cost would get prohibitive there.

I can see why they haven't really caught on - your paying for both and engine and an electric drive train, so an already expensive vehicle just gets more expensive. But it solves an awful lot of other problems with EVs.

Yeah guys just wait until gas is $10 a gallon then everyone will be whistling a different tune.
Then they better get crackin on all that infrastructure they need to build. And car and freightliner companies better get crackin on advancements. They better make Kenworth's and Peterbilt's with enough range to run 10 hours straight while towing 80,000. And all those trucks stops retrofitted with 100's of charging stations. Imagine the power needs to feed 50-100 trucks non stop, every day, 365 days a year, at every truck stop and major station.

Some people don't think about the big picture before they want to cripple the world.

Boy, I wonder what it's going to take to convert commercial airplanes to electric.

The airplanes will be easy... so will the semi's. you just need CRAAAAAAZY efficient solar panels. problem solved. ;) then you only need to charge the airplane enough to get above the cloud levels. And semi's heck in the next 2 years all the highways and interstates will be wireless charging roadways anyway.. so that won't be a problem...

I'm just waiting on Semi trailers where 1/4th of their capacity is replaced by wind turbines and capacitors.

I'd love some of that sweet sweet cheeb you're smokin.

Back on topic, this seems like some humbug after looking into it. There is zero information available. They don't even tell what they are selling. Just a supercut video. And let's be honest anyone can fake anything on video, like nikola.

Miracle battery of the month

I don't trust Tesla to deliver much of anything anymore. Let alone anything more advanced than any other company. All Tesla has done is announce stuff under development that no other company would announce so soon.

It’s part of the shell game where your stock price means more than what you actually can produce or sell

Tesla has been successful because they have been willing to take huge risks where other companies have not.

Other auto companies have valued human life more (or at least valued not having a controversy about "not valuing human life" more)

Tesla decided to just unleash their "autopilot" feature on the masses, with fewer assurances of safety than the competition, and it has shown up in some fatal crashes, but it also allowed them to learn from this and make advances in self driving technology.

I think their approach was wrong, but it has had some clear benefits.

In reality tesla's autopilot is nothing but a cruise control with lane assist. It never was more, any video where they pretended otherwise was snakeoil. They were even forced to stop marketing it as "autopilot" or "full self driving" in Germany for example.
