Daedalic Entertainment announced a special edition of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum last week that includes "The Sindarin VO DLC," and while it's led some publications to believe that the developer has greedily locked Elvish voice acting behind a paywall, that isn't the case, according to the studio. In a new statement received by Push Square, Daedalic explained that while The Sindarin VO DLC, which "adds a touch of authenticity to dialogue with the Elves," is exclusive to the $59.99 Precious Edition, players who purchase the base version of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will still be able to hear Elves speak in Sindarin in the upcoming action-adventure game. The Sindarin VO DLC is merely aimed at "real Tolkien devotees" who want to hear additional Elvish lines spoken by the game's NPC characters, Daedalic clarified. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is out on May 25, 2023.
