The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau has confirmed that Disney+'s headlining series will return next Fall.
Favreau, who also serves as the Star Wars spin-off's creator and head writer, teased subscribers with a sculpture of a Gammorean as part of the announcement. It isn't clear whether the oversized pigs will be central to season 2's story, but Return of the Jedi fans should be delighted to see the species' return to live action.
News of The Mandalorian's next season is timely, as the series' first finale was released today. The episode not only revealed the true name of the Mandalorian, but also a legendary weapon from Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
What'll be more fascinating is who's recruited to direct episodes of The Mandalorian season 2. Season 1 featured talents like Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, and Taika Waititi calling the shots, all of whom earned widespread acclaim for their work. But there will probably be some new names in the mix for season 2.
