Warner Bros. finally released its long-awaited Matrix fourthquel—The Matrix Resurrections—in theaters and HBO Max last week, and while the movie has received mixed responses thus far over its meta nature and arguably tame action scenes, its stars are seemingly quite enthusiastic about the chances of a sequel.



Those would include franchise star and Thomas Anderson/Neo himself, Keanu Reeves, who told Gamespot in a recent interview that he would be totally open to reprising the role again in what could ultimately be a new trilogy for the franchise. The original Matrix from 1999 remains one of the best projects that Reeves has ever been involved with over the course of his lengthy acting career.

I don't think a sequel is needed. I also didn't think a sequel was needed of the first one. And I consider this one an apology for the third one. So... no not needed.
 
I watched Resurrection on Friday night. It was o.k. It could've been a lot worse. For the most part, there's no stopping them from making more but I agree it should've stopped a long time ago. It kinda, sort of, uses ideas that were also expressed in Tron Legacy.
 
Haven't watched Resurrections yet but I will at some point. The reviews have not been kind though.
 
I'm actually surprised the woke police are not in here bemoaning how the movie went.
 
I liked the first film, but not the second. I never bothered with the third one. Reviews haven't painted the fourth one in a positive light so I have no desire to see it.

The irony of those who use the term “red pilled” when the trans siblings behind the Matrix have said the whole series is an analogy for their transitioning from male to female. I don’t have the heart to tell them.

Reloaded had some good parts but also some groany ones. Keep the remote handy and just FF anything that isn't an action scene.

The 3rd one... yeah. Skip that one.

What are you saying? Red pilling is not specific to anything, you can be red pilled on any subject.

Why would 'pay no attention to the man behind the curtain' change it's meaning if the writers of Wizard of Oz said 22 years later that the movie was an analogy to something all along, they just didn't want to tell you while the political climate was not beneficial for that particular virtue signal.
 
The thing is a convulted mess. To many story lines that don't make sense, bad explanations on the hows and the whys of the characters, even the cameos suck.

The opening sequence is actually pretty good, but from then on, its a nose dive.
 
Well as an example the last movie I watched that was HBO MAX and Release at the same time was Dune. I watched it on HBO Max then the NEXT DAY saw it at the theater. That's how much I wanted to support that story. This one was fun... but it was and is impossible to break the same ground as the first one.

This one was more of a story about how Neo had Performance anxiety and couldn't get it up without some help.

heh... those who saw the movie will get that joke.

It originated with the movie, and? What is your point? Because it seems to me that the post I was responding to is based on a huge false assumption. And you seem to be agreeing with it, so go ahead, spell it out.

You can’t “red pill” something without the reference invoking Matrix.

If you then go an associate Matrix with LGBBQ+, then red pill gets it’s guilt by association.

Not complicated, and I’m not trying to imply anything deeper. Just that you wouldn’t have one without the other, and if you smear one with crap, the other is’t gonna come away with no stink.

The reference does not change no matter how they chose to redefine the overarching theme of the movie. Red pilling still means seeing behind the lie.

What guilt? That assumes there is something fundamentally wrong with LGBTQ representation. Which is not what most of us are thinking when we say wokeness ruins everything.

You are trying to imply, or at least the original poster was that anti woke people should stop using red pilling because it is now tainted for them. And that is the fundamental misunderstanding. Being anti-woke does not equal being anti-trans.
