Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher debuted at the end of 2019 with mixed reactions from critics. Netflix reported that the new show had over 76 million viewers. This was, however, shortly after the streaming service changed its metric for measuring viewership. Regardless of metrics, the show did prove to be a hit with fans, and a second season was quickly ordered. Production for it actually began in February 2020. Various tidbits regarding new cast members being added were popping up almost daily. Then the pandemic hit, and, of course, much of the world was shut down.
