A growing number of fans have been extremely vocal about the changes that Tifa has undergone for the Final Fantasy VII Remake. More specifically, they're angry about her reduced bust size.

Director Tetsuya Nomura has admitted that he did in fact "restrict" her chest, but it wasn't by choice. Square Enix has an ethics department, which told Nomura to tone Tifa down and cover her up a bit more. Apparently, her original look was "unnatural."

"It was necessary to restrict her chest," Nomura says in the interview. For the developers, modernising Tifa's design meant creating an athletic look, complete with abs, while retaining her iconic white tanktop and black mini skirt outfit. But, as the ethics department pointed out, Tifa shouldn't look "unnatural" during action scenes, so her chest was "restricted". This resulted in black underwear and a fitted tank top for the remake.

Hopefully they'll have some EA-style "surprise mechanics" and one of them can be Tifa with original proportions. For the purists, of course.

I thought the way she looked in Advent Children was perfect. Paid homage to her original look, while still being classy.

I bet it was the ethics department in charge of EU and NA markets. The JP market would be buying her used panties in a vending machine
