Ubisoft Launches Quartz Platform for Playable NFTs, First Items Coming to Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Ubisoft has shared an announcement trailer for its latest development, Quartz, a new platform that will allow players to acquire and manage NFTs in some of the company’s most popular games.



As noted in the trailer, Quartz will center around Digits, Ubisoft’s name for its in-game, playable NFTs, which comprise limited-edition cosmetics with unique serial numbers that can be tracked from user to user thanks to the beauty of the blockchain. The first game that will support Digits is Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the latest installment of the online tactical shooter series based in the world of Tom Clancy.



Naturally, each Digit can be sold to new owners via third-party marketplaces. Embedded metadata in each Digit also allows a history of previous owners to be easily obtained.

So I expect Steam to delist all Ubisoft games immediately.

Ubisoft trying to one up ActiBlizz on being the worst company of the year (UBI also has massive abuse stuff that was quickly swept under the rug)
 
I don’t get it. Kids these days…

I guess as long as using these NFTs isn’t required for the game, and it’s just cosmetic crap - then why do I care?

Didn't know about that but I do believe you. Meanwhile I keep thinking how much Ubi and EA resemble each other in terms of business practices. I'd swear you really can't tell them apart and I wonder who's imitating who.
