Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s free-to-play first-person shooter battle royale game, is on its last legs.

The developer revealed the somber news in a short post on the game’s official website today, one that confirms the game’s servers are going to be shut down in just 90 days. April 28 is the final day that Hyper Scape’s servers will be live.

“We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey,” Hyper Scape’s developers wrote. “We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.”

I'm not surprised this article is the first thing I remember hearing about this game.

I came here to say the same thing.

I mean, the F2P battle royale games supported by micro transactions are probably the very definition of "not my scene", but at least I would have expected to have heard of the game.

I feel like someone at Ubisoft totally screwed up in marketing this title.

Heard about it when it launched and briefly tought about playing it, but never got round to it and forgot it existed afterwards

I played it for a week or so when it first came out. It was ok'ish. Nothing special.

It being nothing special and Ubisoft moving to a "pay to win" structure that nobody wanted to pay for is what killed it.

Never heard of it and doesn't sound like I should've. Add in Ubisoft and all the nails were already in the coffin before it launched.

Anyone remember when Ubisoft was trying to stave off the buyoff from the Vivendi a while back? Seems like the CEO's answer to keep the company was to monetize everything in sight in order to keep it funded. We'll see how much longer they can hold out with that strategy.

I hadn't heard of it either. I regularly play Ghost Recon Breakpoint and the UConnect launcher advertises a lot of games and yet, I don't recall ever seeing anything in the launcher about this game.

It doesn't sound like it was popular for whatever reason but it also seems like Ubisoft failed to promote it as well.
