Sony Pictures released its live-action adaptation of Uncharted in U.S. theaters this Friday, and although the movie has received plenty of awful reviews from critics thus far, the live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s adventure franchise still managed to win big at the domestic box office this weekend, capturing an impressive $44.2 million and exceeding early expectations. Uncharted initially premiered to Barcelona audiences earlier this month and has since made nearly $140 million worldwide, but the movie has a Tomatometer score of just 39%, having been described by many critics as a generic adaptation with various faults that include poor CG. Big budget video game movie gets bad reviews but still rakes in cash? I am shocked. SHOCKED.

Its probably a good movie for me then. My preference being the opposite of reviews feels it happened many times and it feels like the rule for me now.

Reviewers have been out of touch with audiences for decades but never more so than they are now. Their opinions are almost worthless as a barometer for what's worth watching. Of course, sometimes they'll site a lack of wokeness as a reason to pan the movie. If they do that then I'll watch it on that basis alone.

Not sure if anyone noticed but it dropped on Netflix a few days ago. I still haven't watch it yet. It'll wait until I'm feeling bored and awake. Nothing against it but not something I'm into.

I've never been able to bring myself to watch the Max Payne movie, and I don't know that I will be able to watch this one either. On the other hand, I watched both of those garbage Sonic the Hedgehog movies (good gawd are they some sh1t - why did I watch them?!), and surely this Uncharted movie has to be better. As a lifelong video gamer though, most video game movies really rub me the wrong way.
