I know little to nothing on the topic.

I'm looking for the FREE or really Inexpensive kind. Something better than Snagit which is what we have been using.

I have Win 11 so Windows based would be good or I can run a VM (boot from flash drive) and do Linux as well. I slightly know Ubuntu but not very well.

Any suggestions are most welcome.

Thank you!

Most of the Linux stuff has Windows distros - I wouldn't recommend using a VM as that would reduce performance and block most hardware acceleration (if available). I don't know which one is best, but might be worth looking through the Ubuntu repos just to see what to search for?

I believe it's still Free, but there is a version of BlackMagic's DiVinci Resolve for Windows that can do video editing.. Once you learn it, it's really worth the $295 price-tag..

If you have access to MacOS, iMovie works really well.

For about $25 per month you can use Adobe's Premier Pro.

If you're a student you can get almost all of Adobe's products for $20 a month.

CyberLink PowerDirector 365 for $100 a year is a top choice also.

Thank you to everyone.

I am good at this point. Much appreciated!
