Today, Walmart announced the completion of the company’s acquisition of VIZIO. The closing of the deal follows the expiration of the waiting period under federal regulations.

Pretty much guarantees I will never buy one, lol.

I remember hearing about this back in February.

Apparently the motivation is not to get the Vizio TV/electronics business but rather to get the streaming service.

Walmart wants to be a notable player in the streaming world before the industry goes through its inevitable consolidation, so they can make a bid for being one of the streaming services left standing,

Somehow the thought of "Walmart Original Content" - sort of like Walmart branded milk - just does not sound particularly appealing though...

I don't think I could be convinced to watch a show from Great Value studios :p

Oh wow, I thought WalMart did this a while back. Yeah, no surprise they could care less about the electronics brand, it's all about getting at that data mining that electronic devices enable you to get.
