The base plan subscription for YouTube TV, the TV streaming service run by YouTube that includes live TV from over 100 broadcast, cable, and regional sports networks, as well as unlimited DVR space, is increasing from $72.99 to $82.99 due to what is said to be the rising cost of content.

So another way of paying for ads? So this is cable 2.0?
I find it incredible people actually pay for cable tv, it boggles my mind, always has, always will. In fact guy that setup my internet (via cable) made it a point to say they dont filter channels out, so basically free basic cable, nope, wire to the modem, and thats that, too many ads, not even free is the price for me, the ads, are just....abusive. It wasn't always so, I saw it change from a barely passable balance (20+years ago) to straight up abuse.

Same exact reason I canceled satellite TV and SiriusXM. No point in paying a lot of money for a service, and it still be so infested with ads that it's unusable.

Yea adds are crap for paid services. I'll never understand the point.

I been trying to get my mom to try netflix, they got shows on there that I'm sure she would realy like, but she refuses to miss het soaps and other daily crap, she does not even have enough time to watch everything she wants to on regular tv to try netflix

Then again she records so much she can at least skip trough the adds.

DVR's are the real difference, Finally a couple years ago got my inlaws into streaming through they still subscribe to direct TV satellite services for some reason.

Well enough but these days there are adds that can't be skipped, usually b4 the show starts Also my provider is trying to get use to change the recording of content away from our digibox and onto their servers, which would give them more power to do crap like that.

Yea you'll need to build out your own DVR solution to do it right. And THAT will be a pain in the arse.

OR just get a newsgroup sub and download rips of all of the shows you want to watch onto something like a plex box. Total cost for the first year like... say 800 bucks. After that... 50? Maybe 100. FAR cheaper than all the subs you would have.
