Prices for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Have Nearly Doubled Since November, Hinting That Inventory Is Becoming Scarcer

I am debating if I need a 5080 to replace my 7900xtx. Any good reasons short of Webcam features?

I don't remember in terms of raster but the RT and tensor cores for DLSS/DLAA and ray tracing are a definite improvement but otherwise closer to wash for raster or other features plus that 24 GB on the 7900 XTX is more than the 16 GB of the 5080. There might be some encoding advantages as well for the 5080.

If you're not needing more IQ related features than probably not worth it given the rising prices but if you could snag one at MSRP it might be worth it. I wouldn't pay more than MSRP for 5080 and even then I think its too high but I would normally recommend a 5070 Ti in the 750-850 range. We and others have reviews showing that a overclocked 5070 Ti can hit ~stock 5080 performance levels, I know there are some folks who disagree but there are numbers out there to prove it, so that is something to consider.

Per Google AI and we know what that means:

It also comes down to really having the money to throw at it. The final argument is that its highly unlikely we'll see another GPU launch with lower prices. I know SUPERs usually do that but I don't believe that will be the case moving forward but I could be wrong.

Locally where I am. Some SKUs of 5070Ti's have gone up about $250 (cad$) while others have stayed the same. My MSI Ventus 3X OC 5070Ti has not gone up (none of the MSI cards have) but Asus and Gigabyte have gone up

- Honestly if you're at the 7900XT/4070Ti Super level of performance or above already, there really isn't much of a meaningful upgrade path until you hit the 4090 or 5090.

It really comes down to what features you value and how fat your wallet is.
