Onboard video on 9800X3D :(

Man, the onboard video on my CPU is bad. Fallout 76 and Secret World Legends are unplayable at 1080p/low. There is a ray of sunshine though, SWTOR gets 30fps
 
I've played plenty of League of Legends and World of Warships, my F2P casuals, on Intel integrated. Played through Portal 2 coop all those years ago on an i5 2600 laptop that would only accept 8GB of RAM...
 
I come from an era where 3d was new... I would never expect good performance out of integrated graphics.
 
I played my games on the integrated graphics on core ultra and was able to get playable fps at 1080p. Maybe some settings are wrong.

Please stop with the "some settings are wrong" thing. I know you to be a techie. You have got to be trolling.

But in case you have a genuine need to play on integrated graphics, stick to Core Ultra or get 8700G or a mini PC with HX 370 or Panther Lake 386H or 388H.

Ryzen 395 tried to prove that wrong. Unfortunately, AI hype blew sky high and while it's good for that particular product's sales, not good for integrated GPU fanatics coz prices also doubled overnight.
 
I would recommend pairing that CPU with a powerful video card, probably 5070 minimum. Depending on what games you are using and what OS, at this point I would probably recommend a 9070 or 9070XT, though it depends on your regional prices as well.

Now if you are doing this for science, what are your full specs, especially board, CPU cooler and RAM? What is your RAM running at? (I think iGPUs scale well with faster memory)

Lets also keep in mind over driving memory has been known to cook 9000 series CPU's.

Are you sure about this? Or maybe you are oversimplifying? My understanding is that excessive vSOC will cause issues, especially on X3D chips. I also know that the sweet spot for Zen 5 is around 6000MT/s, though some can push 6200 or 6400 with tweaking.

Personally, I run at 6000MT/s at tight timings. I use the 2x24GB kit of Kingbank DDR5 8400.

Doesn't always happen since all they ever do at overclock.net is push their RAM sticks on their X3D chips. Haven't seen any chatter about failures there. But then most of those people aren't using ASRock mobos either. ASUS seems to be the most popular, followed by, well...hard to say. Other than the cheap Gigabyte 1DPC B850 mobo, I think most are on ASUS and some few on MSI.

There's... zero confirmation as to what's going on there.

I wish we knew, but AMD seems to be holding it really close to the chest.

I don't know why their employees are so loyal to the company. Not a single whistleblower. Not sure what kind of brainwashing they do there. Seems more stringent than what goes on at CIA/FBI since even those agencies have had whistleblowers.

I am using an MSI motherboard. X870E Pro Wifi, I believe. From a Microcenter bundle.
