DLSS 5 is now officially coming to more games, including a couple of classics that got the RTX Remix treatment, and something else NVIDIA has also updated with neural rendering support. Portal with RTX arrived in 2022, bringing ray tracing to the classic game, and was then followed by the Half-Life 2 RTX demo; both […]

I need to play the portal games again. Those were some fun games.
Only played Portal 2. Wasn't able to finish it. My brain couldn't comprehend the puzzles once I got outside of the facility. But what I did play was genius level design. Weirdly enough, I played it on the PS3. And managed to not claim the free Steam key by being too late because it needed some special Sony playstore integration which stopped working by the time I tried to claim the key. I thought that was really lame. Give people the free game they paid for, whether or not your frickin' integration works or not. It looked like a Steam key. Should've been claimable.

When I finally did a 2nd (or was it 3rd) run with Portal 1, I did it with Portal RTX. I haven't played Portal 2 since it came out, so I might be overdue for another run.

I ended up buying the PS3 version just because it came with the free Steam key. That way I got two copies for the price of one, and one of them was a physical copy. Steam ended up being down on launch day, so I couldn't claim the key. So my first night with Portal 2 was playing the PS3 version, suffering not only with a controller, but with one of the worst controllers known to mankind. The 2nd day after I got home from work I was able to claim the key, and start my real file on PC. Never ran the PS3 version again, I don't think. It was interesting being able to log into Steam on PS3 though.

I didn't know there was a limited time to claim the free key. I agree that's some lame-@ss bullsh1t. Portal 2 has been on sale on Steam a bajillion times though, for extremely cheap prices a good amount of those times. So it's still been pretty easy and very cheap for people to get their hands on the PC version throughout the years.

Yeah Portal 2 was some good sh1t. Too bad you were unable to finish it. I've only been through the game once, back when it came out, so I've been wondering if it's time for another run.

Portal 1 is only about 3 hours, by the way.

Then I suck hard on it, I remember playing it for hours, never finished it.

I put in an hour or two into Portal RTX and don't remember where I stopped but do remember the puzzles getting a bit more complex for sure. Never went back, just not my thing but had fun for a moment for a bit and was glad I finally got around to seeing what all the fuss was about.

Co-op on Portal 2 is a lot of fun.

I think it also has a ton of community made maps. Anyone have any experience with them? Single or co-op? I've been meaning to check some of them out, just never the time.
