PRO Hi-Tech, a Russian hardware channel, has claimed via Telegram that NVIDIA doesn't want its board partners launching Arc Battlemage GPUs and will go so far as to ban any that ultimately decide to team with Intel for these next-generation graphics products. The original message is in Russian, but a translation comes by way of Modest Anonymous on VideoCardz' comment section, who described the move as "horribly anti-competitive."

I don't doubt it. This wouldn't be the first time NVIDIA has engaged in anti-competitive practices.

Isn't the bigger news here that Nvidia is doing business with Russian companies in spite of the trade embargo... wait googling...

hummm maybe it doesnt? This isn't very clear.
"The Administration also banned certain service exports to Russia, including accounting, trust and corporate formation, management consulting, and quantum computing, among others. The Administration has further provided broad discretion to executive branch agencies to prohibit additional U.S. exports to and imports from Russia."

Every AIB partner should team up with Intel. There'd be no one left to peddle Nvidia's wares. Call them on their b.s.

So does this mean that intel will be more competitive this time and Nvidia is scared?

It just means that Nvidia wants to keep market dominance by any means necessary. They are willing to play dirty pool even if their product quality/performance is better.

Basically it's what can you do for me now AND later if the AIB vendors sign the dotted line.

It would be like if Apple had board partners that could make/resell apple compatible hardware. Hell you think Google and Apple are alone in wanting 30% of whatever uses their platform? Nvidia wants 30% of anything that runs on their hardware!

My god its a freaking rumor, not that nvidia wouldn't do such a thing, but still a rumor.

One from Russia, no less.

Could also be a plant to preempt such a move; nothingburger if false, but would get attention dialed up on Nvidia if they try this and get caught.

Granted if they have done it, the ink has likely long been dry...

Could be a leak from NVIDIA testing the waters too.
