I just read an article somewhere saying DLSS 5 pushes power draw through the roof too.. like over 800W in some cases

So have fun with that, all you 5090 firestarters!
I read the same and was thinking the same... will DLSS5 be the technology that kills a bunch of Nvidia cards because of high power usage?

800 for just the GPU? My entire pc draws 400W under load.
 
Haven't tried it yet but when I do I'll let you know. I do whatever I can to enforce power limits with mine so we'll see if it manages to do a driver end-run. My rigs usually hang in the 400-500, total draw range, 300-350-ish for GPUs and occasionally under 300.
