  1. Sony Celebrates 30 Years of Play Since the Launch of Its 1st Iconic Console and Reveals That the PlayStation 2 Sold over 160 Million Units

Got my first PlayStation from GameStop back in the day after playing many games with my roommates on theirs. It was a refurbished 1st gen that was a tank and I couldn't tell you how many hours it got used. Eventually donated to Goodwill about 10 years ago. I sort of regret that but oh well. Had...

  4. Intel Arc B580 “Battlemage” GPU Pricing and Specifications Have Surfaced

We can only hope but given how much of its staff that Intel has laid off over the last 2 years, and possibly more on the way, we won't know for sure until they do launch and are tested. I know that sounds like stating the obvious but the total layoff #s from the last 24+ months is close to a...
  5. The Best SSD Deals for Black Friday Week 2024

Over a year on and with some good use and the Acer Predator 4 TB in my laptop is holding strong.
  6. Intel Arc B580 “Battlemage” GPU Pricing and Specifications Have Surfaced

Not quite. This gen is already committed to, more or less, but after that is anybody's guess.
  7. Sony Celebrates 30 Years of Play Since the Launch of Its 1st Iconic Console and Reveals That the PlayStation 2 Sold over 160 Million Units

With over 4,000 games made for the PS2, many of which would go on to become established franchises still in production, it's no wonder the console would manage such a feat of over 160 million units sold. See full article...
  8. “Complete Sunset”: 2K Launcher Has Been Removed from All Games on Steam and the Epic Games Store

Honestly didn't even know there was a 2K launcher. Either it wasn't required or it was launched at some point after I played those games because I don't remember having to deal with it.
  9. Gabe Newell Says He Was Attacked by a Shark Recently, But He Wasn’t Really Scared: “I’m Kind of a Weird Person”

I could use a good laugh . . .maybe they could outsource to Crytek! :p

The prototype uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor with four performance cores and four efficient cores that have a max clock speed of 4.8 GHz. The Intel Core Ultra 7 258V is said to be up to 2x faster than most other current gaming handhelds that feature AMD APUs and its graphics are based...
  11. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D to Include 3D V-Cache on Both CCD Chiplets, According to Latest Report

Normally I'd agree but thinking of dropping a 9950X3D into it. I made a thread for this in the motherboard forum and there's a review with a 9950, it did fairly well in terms of speeds and temps (but things did run a little on the hot side).
  12. Sony Developing Handheld Console for PS5 Games to Rival Nintendo Switch and Microsoft’s Upcoming Xbox Portable, Sources Say

I was actually just thinking the same before reading this. Set to 1080p upscaled from 720p on a small screen where the PPI compensates for the difference in perceived quality.
  13. NVIDIA Warns of A Gaming GPU Shortage as It Prepares to Launch Its GeForce RTX 50 Series

yep, and the scalping doesn't stop there. The ASUS mini-itx 870 board I've been interested in is sold out now and as of last night being scalped for nearly 3x its price ($479) on Amazon for $1400+, now sold out.
  14. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D to Include 3D V-Cache on Both CCD Chiplets, According to Latest Report

Yeah, I was just perusing the thread over at VideoCardz for this rumor and quite a few folks state how AMD is doing a similar tic-toc strategy that Intel did for years and how the 9800X3D is really the pinnacle for price/performance this gen but it'll be next gen for other models. I don't know...
  15. DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

That thing has been updating a lot over the last year or so. I swear about once a month at least. Still love GOG though. Me too. I just get tired of reinstalling launchers, drivers, etc. Not to mention revalidating games and so on. Edit: On the flipside I did update the BIOS and Chipset...
  16. Sony Developing Handheld Console for PS5 Games to Rival Nintendo Switch and Microsoft’s Upcoming Xbox Portable, Sources Say

Just read a little more on VideoCardz and they're saying native play. I'm shocked.
  17. Missing/reapearing drive

I make it a rule to not use sleep states. Seen too many weird things like this and random crashes that need a hard shutdown to fix.
  18. DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

I know that ever since the first Horizon game I've been seeing more games finally making use of extra cores/threads and it's the main reason I'm leaning towards a 9900/9950 X3D. Seems too soon to need more than 8/16 but this is happening more often and not just with sim-type or strategy games...
  19. Sony Developing Handheld Console for PS5 Games to Rival Nintendo Switch and Microsoft’s Upcoming Xbox Portable, Sources Say

I can't imagine they currently have a mobile package of direct play for PS5 titles so I'm betting cloud service like GeForce Now. I could be wrong and if so I'm really curious how.
  20. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D to Include 3D V-Cache on Both CCD Chiplets, According to Latest Report

Me too, I was looking forward to getting one of these, and still might, but testing and price will absolutely be the deciding factors on that choice.
