What the heck is everyone using discord for that there is discussion about echo chambers? The Stellaris, BG3,D2R, etc discord channels are all about the same with guides, game discussion, debates on builds, etc
  2. Discord to Start Showing Ads for Gamers in the Coming Week

Whatever they do, I’m expecting my pihole will rip the ads right out of it. If not, then it might be time to find a discord replacement
  3. Cooler Master Announces TD500 MAX PC Case That Comes Pre-installed with 360mm AIO and 850W Gold ATX 3.0 PSU

I’m not 100% sure on the 850. I had an OC’d 3080ti and a 5950 with PBO enabled randomly rebooting on a Seasonic 750w Plat. I jumped up to a 1000w PS, so I can’t directly say if 850 would have been enough, but the line was somewhere between 750 and 1000.
  4. MSI SPATIUM M580 FROZR PCIe Gen 5 SSD Announced with Passive Heatsink Cooler and Up to 14.6 GB/s Speeds

I can’t imagine the SKU would add that much cost given how things like the WD Raptor series compared to WD blues 15 years ago. But sure, given a 990pro 2TB is sub 200, I could justify paying 600 for a 768GB drive (3x markup) This would also be at least moderately interesting. It wouldn’t be...
  5. MSI SPATIUM M580 FROZR PCIe Gen 5 SSD Announced with Passive Heatsink Cooler and Up to 14.6 GB/s Speeds

We can get a 4TB drive Samsung 990 pro TLC drive for less than 350. That should mean we should be able to get a 1.25TB SLC drive for a similar price. Even if SLC commands a 50% markup from TLC, that would put a 1.25TB SLC drive at less than $550. I’d pay that in a heartbeat, and honestly 512GB...
  6. MSI SPATIUM M580 FROZR PCIe Gen 5 SSD Announced with Passive Heatsink Cooler and Up to 14.6 GB/s Speeds

If they want to give me mind blowing something, give me mind blowing latency. MLC or SLC NAND please
  7. Cooler Master Announces TD500 MAX PC Case That Comes Pre-installed with 360mm AIO and 850W Gold ATX 3.0 PSU

So you can get a mediocre power supply paired with a mediocre AIO, but at least you don’t have to assemble it? Wake me up when it comes included with a 1000w Seasonic Titanium, a D5, and a 420mm rad. Bonus points for ZMT or primochill tube pre installed as well with QDC for processor / vid card

  9. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Movie Is Back in Development, Patty Jenkins Confirms

A super easy solution I’m sure they won’t take. Just turn Michael Stockpole’s X-Wing series into a set of movies. Done
  10. NZXT Launches a PC Subscription Service

  11. First Wallpapers for the Next Tomb Raider Game Unveiled as Crystal Dynamics Rolls Out Society of Raiders Fan Page

I... have never encountered that. If I didn't want to go to a specific conference I wouldn't fill out the paperwork to go. The closest I've gotten to that is having to travel cross country for an annual disaster recovery test. My bonus was dependent on success criteria of the DR test, so even...
  12. First Wallpapers for the Next Tomb Raider Game Unveiled as Crystal Dynamics Rolls Out Society of Raiders Fan Page

Comdex had a cost, but I went in 2002. I don't even know what it cost anymore. Java One is (was? I think it's just a part of cloud world now) Oracle's Java conference. Cost was like $1500. Surge was a scalability conference. It's basically been replaced by O`Reilly Velocity. Cost was $750...
  13. First Wallpapers for the Next Tomb Raider Game Unveiled as Crystal Dynamics Rolls Out Society of Raiders Fan Page

I go to Gen Con, Origins, and NOVA Open for the games. Gen Con stopped with the booth babes years ago and I haven't missed it in the slightest and attendance was record setting in 2023. The other two never had them as far as I know and they still seem to be going strong. I've gone to...
  14. First Wallpapers for the Next Tomb Raider Game Unveiled as Crystal Dynamics Rolls Out Society of Raiders Fan Page

E3 wasn't supposed to be bikini-con. If the models want that work, it's out there for them. If the event couldn't stand on actually being about games, then it wasn't a worthy event in the first place
  15. First Wallpapers for the Next Tomb Raider Game Unveiled as Crystal Dynamics Rolls Out Society of Raiders Fan Page

If the only thing keeping E3 alive was the booth babes, it deserved to die.

  18. New NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Gaming Benchmarks Show What a $999 GPU from 2013 Can Do Today

Inflation calculator tells me that $1000 in 2011 is 1371.11 today. With a 4090 costing 1599, top tier price has increased 14.3% ahead of inflation. How much have wafer prices increased since 2011 (I’m not going to try to chase that one down). Edit. Could also say “Titan level of performance...
  19. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace Returning to Cinemas for 25th Anniversary

At its core there are some solid parts to phantom menace. The light saber fights were very very good compared to the original trilogy, and a number of scenes were just too long, not specifically bad. Not surprised that it could be turned into a good 75 minute movie
