NVIDIA Unveils DLSS 5, to Help Achieve Photorealistic Lighting While Honoring the Artist’s Original Intent and Image Quality

If the sameness would be genuine photorealistic look, that would be fine. But what we are getting is that uncanny AI slop look. Only as much as any previous iteration of DLSS is. What boggles the mind is that it can even run real time on any hardware let alone on a consumer GPU. I'm used to...

Microsoft Announces Project Helix, the Next Generation of Xbox Consoles, Said to Be Able to Run Xbox and PC Games

This is what console gaming is coming to. It will be all PC.. You can have a general purpose PC, or a PC built to run games and little else like this or the steam machine. Or you can have a PS5 that only runs sony games, doesn't seem that appealing when put that way.

    Anyone playing Marathon?

I don't mean anti-fascist. Antifa is not equal to anti fascist. Antifa is a loosely organized global movement, that claims to be anti-fascist but really is just a bunch of thugs and bullies who like to hurt people who have different views than them. Which ironically makes them more fascistic...

    Anyone playing Marathon?

I've heard that the cinematics were outsourced to a completely different VFX company. But no, I have no interest in online shooters, especially ones catering to antifa aesthetics.

Sony Will Reportedly Lessen the Number of Games It Brings to PC Moving Forward

I don't mind paying full price for brand new games that seem great. But not for sloppy seconds of Sony. I'm not comfortable paying more than $20-25 for a port of a 2-3 year old game. Had they brought them to PC day and date, I'd have no problem paying $70 or even $80. The only thing that...

Sony Will Reportedly Lessen the Number of Games It Brings to PC Moving Forward

This might exactly be a panic reaction to slowing HW sales.

Sony Will Reportedly Lessen the Number of Games It Brings to PC Moving Forward

Subsidizing hardware just means they loose big on every player who only buys the console for the exclusives. Exactly the type who they exclude by not porting to PC.

Sony Will Reportedly Lessen the Number of Games It Brings to PC Moving Forward

So they basically told us don't buy a console if you have a PC, but then want to go back to the way things were? Sorry, there is no going back. That ship has sailed.

Industry-Wide Layoffs and Studio Closures Continue as Gaming Audiences Lose Interest in New Releases

I wouldn't call this a gyration. In my opinion the AAA gaming industry has been declining for at least 10 years, with fewer (SP) titles being released, and even fewer of those being great. Even if the sales don't reflect that decline, because sales are influenced by many outside factors as well...

Industry-Wide Layoffs and Studio Closures Continue as Gaming Audiences Lose Interest in New Releases

That's exactly what I was responding to. I thought you were listing examples of the "dime a dozen" good single player games. Sorry, I misunderstood. They are part of the economy not the industry. I'm sorry I just can't think of indie developers or mompop businesses as "the industry".

Industry-Wide Layoffs and Studio Closures Continue as Gaming Audiences Lose Interest in New Releases

I didn't say it doesn't or that it does appeal to me, If you paused before knee-jerk reacting you'd have noticed that Elden Ring doesn't appeal to me yet I accept that it is considered a good game objectively. And indies are not part of the gaming industry, isn't that why they are called...

Industry-Wide Layoffs and Studio Closures Continue as Gaming Audiences Lose Interest in New Releases

Space Marine 2 - mediocre game ARC Raiders - not single player Battlefield 6 - not single player Elden Ring - I'll allow this even though I hate soulslikes Black Myth Wukong - Not made by the western gaming industry BG3 - Indie developer Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 - Not made by the western...

Industry-Wide Layoffs and Studio Closures Continue as Gaming Audiences Lose Interest in New Releases

R U SRS? one game a year is dime a dozen? Maybe not even that.

Industry-Wide Layoffs and Studio Closures Continue as Gaming Audiences Lose Interest in New Releases

Good games still sell, solution: Make good games. And make games that actually appeal to the gaming demographic, not for social media virtue points. In fact I can share a secret: The less you virtue signal the more your game will appeal to gamers.

Changing of the Guard at Xbox: Phil Spencer Retires, Sarah Bond Steps Down, Asha Sharma Takes Over as CEO of Microsoft Gaming

I said it a few days ago, XBOX is a dead brand, this reaffirms that even more.

Cyberpunk 2077 reviews are trickling in...

It's not that the game forces you, it just feels wrong and breaks immersion to wander around doing petty stuff instead of looking for a solution for the ticking bomb in your head.

Cyberpunk 2077 reviews are trickling in...

I hate the fact that it only works with scaling at an acceptable frame rate. Even on highest quality DLSS it looks like crap compared to native 4K. I fully blame nvidia for ruining gaming forever with this crap. For me too, but that's not saying much since I love the game anyway. My biggest...

Phison CEO Claims DRAM/NAND Pricing and Supply Issues Will Lead to the End of Many System Integrators and Consumer Electronics Companies

Why is that an issue? That's what we want. If the datacenter is never finished it can't siphon away RAM, GPUs and SSDs. Meaning what they already have in warehouses doesn't get used so the demand for more drops.

Phison CEO Claims DRAM/NAND Pricing and Supply Issues Will Lead to the End of Many System Integrators and Consumer Electronics Companies

The AI bubble won't last until 2029, maybe not even into 2027, it is already coming apart at the seams. See nvidia's sudden backtracking on their openai investment or the stalling of datacenter constructions. They might have bought 60% of memory chip allocation, but I doubt they'll be making...
