9850X3D speculation

Forgot to mention got a couple of other collector's items as well, EVGA 3090 TI Liquid Cooled Edition, basically just a step below the Kingpin model but I've also got an air cooled model, and then MSI's 4090 liquid cooled model, more-or-less the last affordable top tier RTX version.

One of my 3080 12GB is the SC Watercooled (240mm AIO), the other is an FTW3 that currently has a Watercool Heatkiller V block on it, but I also made sure to keep all the FTW3 air cooler parts in the box. I think it's even beefier than this PNY 5080...

Hadn't heard about that, see what you did, now you have me worried. However, so far the laptop has been a champ with all the testing I've done.
It's not stability - because I'm pretty sure that JEDEC lowered the standards for DDR5 so that Micron dies would pass. Samsung and Hynix were doing 6000MT/s out of the gate, Micron was lucky to hit 5200MT/s - and that at CL46 typically.

I don't think I've heard anyone complain about reliability issues with Crucial RAM.
As well they shouldn't. Just don't try to overclock them if you aren't a masochist 😅

Well, the good news is that I've no intention of overclocking anything on this laptop. It's spec'd to be more powerful than my needs, so I can run it in balanced mode and enjoy those benefits. As far as masochistic behavior goes, I have other ways to torture myself between work, family, and friends, not to mention an obsession with trying to make MS/NV updates work.
