AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Gaming Processor Officially Announced Including Complete Specifications and Pricing

Definitely waiting until we know more about the 9950X3D but otherwise on my watch list.

Really depends on how well they deal with thread assignment across CCDs. If they get that figured, might go up; otherwise the 9800X3D is likely it.

I had initially planned on jumping on this on release. Then I spent a lot of money on home improvement this year and decided to delay the big upgrade.

Now I am starting to reconsider and figure out if I can find the money in the couch cushions.

This looks to be an awesome release.

I wonder if there will be supply shortages at launch.

Found this interesting. Guy seems pretty knowledgeable on the Ryzen side of things.

I don't need this but I want one. HOWEVER, I would be forced to go to Win 11 bc all the core scheduler stuff built into 24H2, right? I had planned on riding Win 10 into the grave, I have 11 on wife's laptop and my work laptop and I'm not a fan.

For the 9800X3D you don't need anything fancy. It's a single CCD with a single CCX. So all cores/threads will have access to the same L3.

Scheduling only gets tricky with processors that have more than one CCD or more than one CCX per CCD. Those are generally the x900 series of processors from AMD. 5900x, 5950x, 7900x, 7950x, 9900x, 9950x, etc...

Yes I'm waiting to see how the 9950x3d behaves. And prices on a 5090 since AMD is not competing in the video card space, at the high end this revision.

Yeah it's going to be a real shame if the 5090 is priced for the rich. The way things are looking my new build is probably going to be either a 9950X3D (If dual 3D cache on both CCDs) or 9950X and probably a 4090 since I wont be paying Nvidia tax for a 5090.

I thought they said the scheduler changes were being back-ported into Win10 as well?
