And making matters much, much worse are these corrupt inbred Korean executives: 삼성전자·SK하이닉스, 올해 낸드플래시 생산량 감축… “초호황기 이익 극대화”

Guess we are now going back a decade once supplies are exhausted.

Expensive 1 TB hard drives. Burning DVDs and Blurays for backups. Deleting games every time we want to install new ones. No more having our favorite AAA games on one drive or one PC and being able to launch them whenever we feel like it.

There are pros to that too. Game studios may start optimizing their games to look better with smaller texture sizes. May even start generating game textures procedurally to reduce game sizes to less than 50GB.

Hadn't heard about this yet but lines up with pretty much everything else. Yep, we're mostly screwed for 2026 and probably quite a bit beyond that.

Makes me glad I went with a 4tb drive when I rebuilt my system in the beginning of 2025.

Oof...

On another note I used to balk at the idea that the 'decks' used in games like Shadowrun cost so **** much money.... I think they got lucky that compute costs are going the way they are. We're headed for a world where Corpo's have PC's and everyone else is on a phone or tablet.

Wow, never even thought about that and you're totally spot on.
I mean good bad or otherwise... I'm in the corpo crowd. But still... it's disturbing. Once folks are on tablets controlling what they get their eyes on becomes much easier in those 'walled' ecosystems.

So the the computer started in huge institutions like Universities and Corporations, then landed in everyone's homes just to go back to their University and Corporations birthplace.

Its like mankind.

Start crawling, then learns to walk, then learns to run, then cant run and can only walk, then can't walk and can only crawl.

The computer circle of life is humanlike even without AI.
