Sony and Microsoft have revived the console wars following announcements from each that exclusive releases are back on the table. The detente between the two console manufacturers seems to be at a crossroads, with future AAA games remaining on each’s hardware. The exception being that Microsoft has typically released its Xbox (now XBOX and it’s […]

Oh this was so very predictable. And honestly... with Sony being a 2 faced a-hole on PC releases... they can eat it.

I mean sure... a PS whatever is just a % of what I paid for my video card... that's beside the point.

I don't care about console exclusives, so long as those games still come to PC. So Sony can eat a dick. And Nintendo, well we're just biding our time before Switch 2 gets the same treatment with emulators on PC that Switch 1 got. Cuz we know Nintendo would never release native PC versions of their games. Honestly I am surprised Sony did. Sony would have been smart to keep it up, but apparently they all do copious amounts of drugs over there.

Honestly found myself getting bored with their games anyway. Never finished 1st playthrough of HZD remastered which would've been my 2nd run of HZD and just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on ragnarok despite its many positive reivews. Just rewatched into the spiderverse so feeling a little inspired to play miles and the 2nd game but that still might not happen until the end of summer. Wasn't really into TLOU so no loss there. Wolverine doesn't look bad but its about decade too late for me to care and Laufey doesn't look like anything I'm interested in.

As far as Nintendo, everyone is already used to what they do and that's why most media outlets don't even include them in these types of stories. It's already a given so why bother mentioning. On that note they are so far off my radar I couldn't think of a game beyond Mario Kart or DK world.

I find myself getting bored with most games in general, to be honest.

The few that do seem to keep my attention lately are usually not the flashy, popular AAA games any longer.

Given the current state of gaming PCs.. honestly, if/when my current computer craps out, I dunno that I'll build another. 75% of the fun was just in building the rig - for me, most of the games in my library were mostly just a way of showcasing the build, I didn't really enjoy many of the games if I'm truthful about it.

What I tend to enjoy playing, I could probably play just fine on a potato. It seems building PC rigs has been circling around the drain for a long time now, and the trend is accelerating, not getting better. I suppose that's true of anything circling the drain - the closer you get to the hole, the faster you circle.

I admit that even if its not a Sony game that there a lot out there which just don't appeal to me for one reason another but I am interested in the 007 to some degree but I'm waiting until they patch it up more and add RT hardware support.

The good news is that games I've enjoyed over the last ten years or so have been aging well and new hardware often enables a better experience. Just started another Rise of the Tombraider playthrough at 4K using latest DLSS 4.5 file and it's a blast at 120Hz w/ W11 HDR auto enabled.

I swear it was like, yesterday they were bragging about how they're going to release all their games on PCs. Now they're not?

What the heck is going on here?

Do they think that the RAM shortage is going to force people to consoles if they want to play games?

...jokes on them, if that's what they think.

Lets me real... the people here in this forum are largely not the console market. Console is great for those that want to just play games, and could give two ****s about everything else.

Want to see consoles fly off the shelves. Just wait for someone to make a custom rom to load up an agentic AI on them that can take care of household AI tasks with a local LLM. (Sure tokens will be sparse but for most people that want Google/Alexa/Whatever... having a local version that can handle most things and keep a spool of current data refreshed off the web... that will be more up their ally. ESPECIALLY if it can handle scheduling of the robot vacuum cleaner and turn down the AC around your projected arrival time based on your phone's movements and pattern recognition.

Or really... businesses will buy them in droves to run a docker container and a few agentic AI's with GPU processing speeds thanks to shared memory and the per console cost being subsidized. ;)

Then we will see the Steam machine values start to look oh so much better and you won't find the others on the shelves until price parity stabilizes and enterprise mom and pop solutions are no longer needed.

Makes me want to task an AI to make a way to load up docker on an Xbox... lets see what google has to say. Currently it's a no go due to memory limitations in the SOC used for consoles. Still... that could be surmountable with a bit of creative soldering. ;)
