DOOM Eternal is shaping up to be a killer game, but don’t expect the latest in advanced lighting effects. During a recent interview with Digital Foundry, executive producer and id Software studio director Marty Stratton confirmed that the hellish FPS would not feature ray-tracing support in any official capacity.

Last I checked the level of hardware raytracing that is possible even with a 2080ti did look better but was nothing you'd ever notice unless comparing still frames side by side.

I don't see this as being a huge loss.

@David_Schroth Thanks for fixing mobile view and commenting so fast! Perhaps I'll double my Patreon :D .

Doom trailer looks pretty sick already. I'm hoping vulkun multi GPU is ready in time and they add it for idTech 7. I need my 120hz 4K goodness. Oh and maybe some HDR? It's not Christmas yet I know but one can hope.

Even though I love RT I'm happy about this. This series is more about high frame rates with a balance of good IQ than the other way around. Save RT for games where you spend time walking around looking at things and not constant run and shoot or blow up. Hope they give it HDR & Atmos though.
