2022 is going to be another disappointing year for prospective E3 attendees who were hoping to meet up with friends and experience game announcements live among an energized crowd this summer.
This is according to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which confirmed to GamesBeat today in a statement that E3 would once again be held as an online-only event this year. The ESA is the organization behind the annual video game trade show.
“Due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022,” the ESA told GamesBeat in a statement. “We are nonetheless excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon.”
