2022 is going to be another disappointing year for prospective E3 attendees who were hoping to meet up with friends and experience game announcements live among an energized crowd this summer.



This is according to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which confirmed to GamesBeat today in a statement that E3 would once again be held as an online-only event this year. The ESA is the organization behind the annual video game trade show.



“Due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022,” the ESA told GamesBeat in a statement. “We are nonetheless excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon.”

E3, TGS, etc. has been dead since they had kicked out most gamers, due to whiny journalists, and made it all about the media.

Yeah the relationship between games media and developers has really become a giant circle jerk in recent times. It's like they don't even need gamers in the equation.

It's a catch 22, 'influencers' get early access and insider information, so you must watch them to learn about new things even if you don't like their opinions.
