During EA’s Q4 2020 earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson revealed that the publisher would be releasing fourteen new games in the 2021 fiscal year (April 1, 2020 until March 31, 2021). VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb has published the purported list of titles, which includes something that many BioWare fans have been pleading for: an HD remaster of the Mass Effect Trilogy.

There aren’t any details on how the games are being revamped yet, but we can probably expect proper 4K support via higher-quality textures. All three Mass Effect titles still sound and play great, so it’s hard to imagine what else will be changed – although if EA and BioWare really want to do fans a solid, they may considering amending that horribly received Mass Effect 3 ending, which many still haven’t lived down.

All of the DLC...

Not interested in any of those listed. They need to bring back the NCAA football games, even though they keep hitting one snag after another.

I'm only interested in the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster. I'm absolutely on board with that. People like myself have been asking for that for awhile now.

I'll enjoy the Mass Effect Trilogy remasters as well. Finishing The Witcher EE this week and would love some other pinnacle retro gaming action.

I went back over the list and a Command & Conquer remaster could be something I'd be interested in. I was a huge fan of that series up to C&C3.

Same here. I don't think I want to pay $20 for it, but it's definitely on my "to buy" list. For me, RA2 was some of the most online fun I've ever had with an RTS game.

Couldn't agree more. I'd love to do another play through of the series, especially if they put a little extra work into it by porting all 3 into the latest Unreal Engine and fine tuning the controls on the first one.

I know it's highly unlikely (near impossible) but I would love to see them combine all 3 into one continuous game adding a bit of new content to better bridge the gaps.

I only discovered the series at the 2nd game and heard some not so good things about the first one so never bothered with it, might now if they fix the bad stuff.

I was a big fan of C&C back in the day also, until I discovered Starcraft and then later on Supreme Commander.

Mass Effect is a good game. The problem is that it shows its age more than the rest. It also does suffer from some pacing issues. The biggest problem is that when you hit the Citadel and try and do everything there, it gets pretty **** boring. You can also leave the Citadel and come back to it periodically, which helps with the pacing. The problem with this is that you can trigger certain events unknowingly and that can lead to locking you out of some quests.

Also, the Mako driving and exploration parts are not fantastic. If your a completionist, the game bogs you down quite a bit. That said, once your through the busy work and tedium, and when done in the right order, Virmire and then Ilos, it's quite a roller coaster ride and unlike anything I'd ever experienced up to that point.

I've noticed mass effect sound effects used in some media titles I was watching. Mostly scifi background or side noises for doors and such. . Ales me wonder if they are in license pool somewhere.

Some of the sound effects could have originated from some license pool. The music for Mass Effect was created for the games. However, those songs have apparently been licensed out for other productions afterwards. One example that I've personally caught was with the TV show, "Behind Mansion Walls." It is an informative murder porn type of show that uses Mass Effect 2 background music in the show. Specifically Its background music from the Archangel mission on Omega. I've actually heard some of that same music and other music from the series used on other shows as well, but that's the one that stands out in my mind the most.

Interestingly enough, I've found out that this is somewhat common with the sound track of the Mass Effect trilogy. I have no idea if this comes up with other games and shows, but given the insane amount of hours I have in those games I catch it rather quickly. An example of this is the "Leaving Earth" track from Mass Effect 3 can be heard in Daredevil Season 2's recap video for Season 3. Also, I discovered that a great deal of the Mass Effect music shows up in programming for the History Channel.

Another tie in for "Behind Mansion Walls" is that the show is narrated by Bill Ratner. He was the voice actor who played Donnel Udina in the Mass Effect trilogy. You may also remember the voice actor as the voice of the character Flint in G.I. JOE in the 1980's.

Wow that's some deep track trivia going on. I did see an interview with the lady that did the voice of the female shepard. She freaking looked the part. Like she could take you down and make you glad she did it. ;)

How many of those are riddled with microtransactions? Meh.
Im not in love with the concept at all. That being said, okay so I start playing a free game, so I like it.. then I see the limits of the free part, and hence look at buying some of their fools in game coins, but the math doesn't add up, most of the games I played like that, I can see if I put say 30 bucks, that will give a few things (say now needed upgrades) but quickly i will need more money.. i mean screw your greed... Now you get zero dollars.
This happened to me with that stupid mobile sniper game, I started it, it was cool, liked the upgrading the rifle or whatever.. but to continue clearly I would have to spend probably 100s of dollars as a not insignificant 30 dollar wouldn't get me much at all to keep playing. MT can be just too greedy.

I'm actually really excited for an ME remaster. I replay the trilogy about once a year anyway and would love to replay them with modern graphics and effects. Just hope they don't change anything more than a few technical tweaks. The games are virtually perfect as they are. Maybe not in technical terms of action, pacing, control and things like that but when it comes to story, atmosphere, characters, writing, music and just the ability to become totally immersed in its world and emotionally invested in the story and the characters in it, it's simply unmatched IMO.

I'd love if they revisited other Bioware titles.. Jade Empire... SWTOR (not the MMO) and so on.

of course then the MMO crowd would be begging for a update in fidelity.

Since EA finally had a halfway decent sale on the DLC I was finally able to pick up the rest of the ME2 and ME3 DLC I didn't already have and started playing through them again.

While I personally don't have a problem with the graphics of either game, hell, I don't even mind the graphics of ME1, what I want is a gameplay update. I'd love to have them all on the same engine with the same combat and equipment setup assuming they used ME3 for the baseline. The combat in ME3 was definitely the best of the trilogy and I'd love to see that get ported to the previous games. Obviously, if we got lucky enough that they did do this there would be graphical updates for all the games. Most of the graphical assets would be shared between all three games so it only make sense. I wouldn't be surprised if they would save time and money by doing an actual port to a single modern game engine for all three games at once.

That said, I'd love to see most of ME1 left alone. I can usually deal with most of the pacing issues although Dan does bring up two really good points regarding the time spent on the Citadel as well as getting locked out some missions. I'd love to see those addressed. My main complaints and the reason I don't replay ME1 as much as 2 or 3 is the combat, the inventory system and the Mako missions. I'm quite the completionist when it comes to Mass Effect games. One reason is because I always port an ME1 character into ME2 and an ME2 character into ME3. I want to make all the choices and have all options open to me. The differences aren't big but they are something I notice when it's missing. Fix the combat, the inventory bloat and Mako missions and I'll be one happy camper. The story and the experience of ME1 is one of my most memorable gaming experiences and while great games, ME2 and 3 cannot touch it.
