Killzone, the series of first-person shooter "Halo Killer" games for PlayStation that remains largely credited for helping put developer Guerrilla Games on the map, will no longer be getting any more installments, according to the latest word from Roy Postma, an art director at Guerrilla that has contributed to many of the company's biggest projects, including what appears to be all of the Killzone and Horizon games.

LOL, no. HZD was OK, it slithered by based on graphics and a promise of exploration that largely remained unfulfilled. Forbidden west is just cringe. They might be able to push one or two more sequels but to increasingly diminished interest from the audience.

I never really cared for the Killzone series, but a large part of that was cuz it was a console-exclusive FPS series, and I don't do FPS games with a controller. Especially a Sony controller. HZD was the first Guerilla game I actually enjoyed. Wish I hadn't played that one with a controller either, but I didn't know it would be coming to PC. The sequel is definitely getting played on PC. Anyways, I think Guerilla made the right move, moving away from the Killzone series and trying something new with HZD. I think it paid off. Even the best Killzone games weren't much to bother with.

I've enjoyed the HZD games but yeah, they started to feel like a one trick pony towards the end of the 2nd one. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy them and still chuckle when I think of them as Mad Max: Xena Edition, but if a 3rd is made I'm hoping for some more development offworld so that it doesn't feel like things are getting recycled.

Killzone, never played it but some studios can make it work by focusing on one or two IPs like Rockstar has done with GTA/RDR, or Bethesda's two sides with Elder Scrolls and now Starfield or its branch with Doom, or Activision with COD, and I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. However, once those diminishing returns do set in and there's nothing else in the works, it can end up being a quicker death to a studio than some might expect.

I don't think I've ever played any of the Killzone games.
