So what do Intel NUCS and Screen Doors on Submarines have to do with each other? Apparently a lot. If you own one get to patching ASAP.

The Intel NUCs are basically very small and compact computers. They can range from Celeron CPUs to i7 CPUs. Very handy if you need to save space. Neat devices that I have personally used and sold myself. Some of upper end ones even have Vega graphics built into the Intel CPUs. For the size it is hard to beat.

Intel has discovered some pretty nasty vulnerabilities and have released some security patches for their NUC line of products yesterday. It is a long list of devices so you know what to do if you or someone you know has one.

"Potential security vulnerabilities in system firmware for Intel® NUC may allow escalation of privilege, denial of service and/or information disclosure.Intel is releasing firmware updates to mitigate these potential vulnerabilities." - Intel

I honestly never thought about how things like spectre and meltdown might affect these little things. Not to mention all the other fun things floating around these days.

Too true. I'm constantly telling our other administration how they don't want to know all the new tech vulnerabilities I see in a month. Sometimes life in a cave without electricity doesn't look that bad but then I remember all the shows the wife and I still want to finish binging.
