I remember the old days when you could either buy the boxed version with a cooler, or get an OEM tray version cheaper.

Having that option would be nice.

System builders still get them that way as I understand it. Retail CPU's on the other hand only come one way now.

For a long while you could get a bare CPU, and an oem os version as a hobbiest. They have closed that door.
