Marvel Studios Never Reached Out to Tom Cruise for Superior Iron Man Role “Because of Availability”

One of the biggest rumors surrounding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was that it'd feature a cameo appearance by Tom Cruise, who, many moons ago, was in the running to play Tony Stark before Robert Downey Jr. ultimately took the role and paved the way for Marvel Studios' immensely successful cinematic universe.

Me neither. Sad thing is that from Batman to Marvel the guy has been trolling for comic book roles for some time now.

The only thing I can see him nailing about Stark is the arrogance. It’s so hard to picture anyone but Downey because he found a way to incorporate the arrogance by acknowledging it through humor. Cruise can’t pull of arrogance and humor simultaneously, imo.

For Downey it was very natural. He just reverted to 1980's Downey. Cruise was never funny.

Cruise isn't a great actor... what he IS great at is marketing himself. I've enjoyed many of his movies.
