Microsoft has decided not to change Xbox Live Gold pricing. Another change is that free-to-play games will no longer require an Xbox Live Gold membership.



We messed up today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of gaming and we failed to meet the expectations of players who count on it every day. Yeah, smart thinking walking it back. Think most people were under the assumption that Gold would go free after it appeared GamePass was a huge hit (and diving their subscription model).

First big misstep by MS in this new era of console gaming (imo). At least they recognized the negativity right away and walked the increase back immediately.
 
Now if only they realized the mistake that is the windows store and uwp, and would create a proper client that doesn't think it owns your computer to do with it as it pleases.

Most games sold through the Microsoft Store are Win32. I think even Microsoft abandoned the idea of trying to make games in the UWP framework years ago.
