I think it's neat it'll have a core ultra... but I just don't care about handhelds enough to care more.
 
It's not really about the hardware though.

Steam Deck is only really interesting because of the system it runs and support it gets. I'd say the same thing about Nintendo's hand helds.

Otherwise, you just have a really inconvenient PC.

Sure, you can probably install SteamOS on all these machines - and that's cool, but they won't get the same level of hardware integration that Steam Deck gets.

That's the thing that's key for the Steam Deck above all the other competitors, Valve's software and how tightly integrated it is with their hardware.

I don't know if I consider it to be Apple-like when Steam Deck is an open PC platform where I can run any OS and software I wish on it. I get what you mean though.

If you can find drivers you can put any OS you want on apple hardware as well. It might run like crap but you can. Steam deck is MORE open in that regard but what I mean is their OS and environment are written to best utilize a limited hardware spec. Same as Apple does.
