The GeForce RTX 5090 GPU — the fastest GeForce RTX GPU to date — features 92 billion transistors, providing over 3,352 trillion AI operations per second (TOPS) of computing power. Blackwell architecture innovations and DLSS 4 mean the GeForce RTX 5090 GPU outperforms the GeForce RTX 4090 GPU by up to 2x.

So if I’m reading that right, the 5000 series is about 25% faster if you don’t want fake frames?

I know I'm an old school gamer. And quite honestly 25% better performance is ok with me, amazing that DLSS can make that 2x the performance of the 4090 with it's most current DLSS.

I've seen people saying time and time again DLSS is the way to better performance. And at this point I will probably buy in if I can swing a 5090. BUT... I'll be trying to stick with native as best I can for 4k gaming.

I'm just relieved the starting price isn't 2600 to be honest.

this keynote was MUCH more interesting than AMD's sadly. At least for the stuff I care about.

I'm guessing the 5070 having 4090 performance, probably has a huge asterisk. Only with DLLS 4 and frame gen.

Still, not too shabby

The RX9070XT better match at least the 5070 to stay in the game

So, it seems the initial excitement is fading. It appears that the "more realistic expectations" put the 5070 about as fast as the 4070Ti, the 5070Ti in the 4080 Super range and the 5080 just short from the 4090 in raster performance.

So the RX 9070 series might actually have a shot.

Sure, if you don't use DLSS. From what I've seen/read the new DLSS is really good.

I played with DLSS on my 3080ti when it was new. I’m sure it’s gotten better, but the experience left me so unimpressed I don’t expect I’ll want to play with it again.

If I can swing it i will go 5090 with a x3d chip either 9900 or 9950.

It's a tradeoff. If you use DLSS, you get higher performance or can turn other settings up. I've used DLSS alongside FSR framegen to play through the Horizon Zero Dawn / Forbidden West games myself. Certainly not free of graphical anomalies, but with higher detail than I would have been able to without.

I'll be going with the 5090 if I can actually get ahold of one and not have to deal with scalping BS.

I'm.... sticking with my 3080 and 5700X for the time being. I don't play anything that this rig can't handle yet - almost entirely older games that this is already overkill for.

Basically the same here concerning the games. Good newer games are hard to come by and most don't interest me anyway.

Someone posted this one on Reddit:

With EVGA gone, I don't even know who to trust and all the big Taiwanese shops put out regular stinkers. Maybe PNY will give us a card with a little extra oomph and a German (Watercool, Alphacool) block?

INNO3D isn't interested in the US market, at least as of mid last year when I talked to them. PNY is interested in gaining a better presence in the US market, they even did a prototype with Cooler Master a while back. Whether or not they're successful, we shall see.

NVIDIA is really consolidating PCB control - the main differences between all cards will be 1. Cooling solution and 2. Performance parameters adjusted within range of what NVIDIA allows. ASUS, MSI and GIGABYTE all have AIO skus this time for the 5090 (and MSI for the 5080), however, the Gigabyte one is expected to be a low volume deal here in the US (unsure on the other two's, but MSI's probably had the best availability in the 4090 generation).

Saw a video from LTT, seems MSI is releasing a water block pre-installed version of the 5090 for custom loops.
