Paramount Is Planning More Transformers Movies without Michael Bay

Paramount has announced that Angel Manuel Soto and Marco Ramirez are developing a new Transformers movie that, like 2018’s Bumblebee, will not be directed by Michael Bay, who helmed the first four films. Details about the upcoming movie are scarce, and a title has not been revealed.



Soto, whose credits include Charm City Kings, Dinner Party, and Bashir’s Dream, is set to direct. He’s also been tagged to direct Blue Beetle for Warner Bros. and DC. Ramirez, who is penning the script, has worked on notable shows such as FX’s Sons of Anarchy, HBO Max’s Twilight Zone series, Netflix’s The Defenders, along with the second season of Daredevil, Orange Is the New Black, and Da Vinci’s Demons.

Honestly, Bumblebee exceeded all of my expectations which were admittedly low. I thought it was a much better movie than all of its predecessors. It's clear that it's a soft reboot given that it had multiple continuity issues with the other films.

While I agree it was somewhat better than the prequels, that's not saying much really.

I guess a reboot is in order, although I'd rather see the next Star Trek instead.

Who in their right mind would want more of their brand of star trek? The people currently in charge of star trek have no clue about it. They demonstrated it clearly. The only way I'd be interested in anything star trek if they gave the helm to Seth Macfarlane. I know a lot of you frown at that name, but he demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that he gets star trek, by producing two seasons of what essentially is star trek.

yar the rumor mill for ST is all over the place these days. Anything from none at all to around three or four projects in the works.

The so called plans for new shows is going back a while, they even announced some of them, years ago (Section 31, Strange New Worlds) but they are vaporware. They don't have the money to make them. Why make them anyway when most of the fans of old star trek is through with them after picard. And their new imaginary audience well is just that.

It wasn't the shows I was talking about. The on/off again plans with Tarantino's R rated and the fourth movie for the current gen, plus around 2 or 3 other potential movies. About 2-3 months ago Paramount said everything was done and then about a month ago rumors started surfacing again that some movies might still be getting developed.

The Total Number Of Star Trek Movies In Development Now Is Ridiculous

Star Trek is looking like it's getting a major infusion of new movies. Up to five films are currently in the pipeline for the franchise.

Supposedly filming has actually started on Strange New Worlds. I don't know if that's true or not, but out of all the announced shows it seems like the most likely to move forward.
 
As long as they have character actors like Megan Fox and that blonde aussie I think from the beginning of the second one... I want to see them.

Ahem... Oh and cool special effects too that's what I meant to say!

They played with my emotions at the beginning of the movie with the classic character designs. I've always hated the way they looked in the new movies.

On another note, the War for Cybertron Netflix series has been pretty good so far. Chapter 2: Earthrise just came out in January. Chapter 3: Kingdom comes out in July and is supposed to lead into the Beast Wars timeline.

Awesome! I haven't finished Earthrise yet. Too cool about the next part. Ahh springtime, when I suddenly lose time to watch things or play games. Still got ano hour left for the snyder cut, hour for godzilla vs king kong, half of Earthrise, half of Disenchantment, and probably a few other things I can remember and now after hearing you and Dan talk about Bumblebee I'm interested in checking it out.

We watched it last night, although I fell asleep towards the end. We felt pretty much the same.

The original character designs really made me wish this team would just commit to a movie about just that. Wow that was incredible. I've never been a fan of what Abrams Bay did-soooo generic looking. Still have to finish Earthrise though.
