PCI-SIG has confirmed that its upcoming PCI Express (PCIe) 7.0 specification will feature an exciting data rate of 128 GT/s and is targeting a 2025 release

So what we just skip PCIe 6? We're just getting 5. SLOW THE FUDGE DOWN. lol.

I am picturing NVME drives that need dedicated power and independent water cooling loops but it serves data before you request it thanks to quantum dot requests.
 
We spent an awfully long time stuck on 3.0.

It's not like you have to use it just because it exists - I'm all for these new standards. Maybe someone will figure out something useful for them.

well pcie6 spec has been released. pcie7 is still in planning.
