What can ray tracing do for a classic? You can get that answer now by grabbing Quake II RTX from Steam (or directly from NVIDIA’s website). Those who own the original get the full game (campaign, online co-op, and online PvP multiplayer), while everyone else is free to enjoy the first three campaign levels.

Each single-player and multiplayer map has been enhanced with path-tracing, a super high-fidelity form of ray tracing. This enables lifelike lighting, reflections, shadows, and much much more, exemplifying the power of ray tracing, and demonstrating why AAA developers are working with us to enhance their blockbusters with the tech.

Just installed it but I won't have time to test until this weekend. Basically a 1GB download. Read some reviews on the steam forum and people are saying it's extremely demanding on hardware. The 2080TI seems to hold around 40-60fps in 4k while 2060 and 2070's are really having a rough time.

@Brent_Justice is working on some numbers with the 2080Ti and 1080Ti - expect to see them on the front page as soon as they're done!

Coincidentally enough, I installed it yesterday on my 1080TI rig just to get it added to my steam library but was going to test on both my rigs which each use the same kind of cards. I just wanted to wait until I had some real time to start with the 2080TI rig first.
