Recently Raspberry Pi celebrated an impressive milestone. It has now sold over 30 million units since the 2012 release of the Raspberry Pi B. Co-founder Eben Upton stated, Twitter, that they sold their thirty-millionth unit sometime last week.

Raspberry Pi numbers get stale fast. We sold our thirty-millionth unit some time last week (we think Tuesday).

A number of people have likened this achievement to the Guinness Book of World Records entry for the Commodore 64. The C64 earned the title for best selling single-model computer by selling roughly the same numbers in twelve years. It’s not exactly a like for like comparison since the Pi has had numerous iterations. Either way congratulations to Pi as we’ve seen it used for many creative and educational purposes. There are moments when they seem like they can do anything.
