The age of the mega install is upon us. I remember a few years back when many balked at the idea 30-50GB games. Then came the 60-80GB ones. Well Tsing reported today about Call Of Duty Warfare’s 175GB weigh in and I’m here to tell you there’s little brother to go with it. RDR2 PC version recommendeds 150GB of drive space.

Specs can be found via logging into the Rockstar Games launcher.

Whether using a SSD, or platter, you’ll need to plan big if getting both of these games. Having a fast internet connection will be a good idea as well. I wonder how long until we hit the 200GB and then half terabyte sized games? Here’s hoping for a drop in price for 4TB SSD’s soon as I have a feeling we’ll be needing them soon enough.

Wow. I can only imagine that this is the start to the norm. With graphics continuing to improve plus the depth of some games, we should have seen this coming I suppose.

Just noticed they upped the ram too. 12GB instead of 8GB. Not to many games with that around either but I think a few have popped up over the last year or so.

In case anyone wonders, I took the plunge. Got the launcher and pre-ordered the special edition since I don't really do much online gaming.

Added a 1tb m.2 drive to my PC not too long ago, thinking I'll be needing another real soon.

That will take me approximately 2-3 weeks to download. Assuming I do nothing else with my internet.

Honestly I don't mind that games are getting bigger. But wow does it sting... and physical media doesn't do you any good either - since there's always the massive Day 0 patch.

Reminds me of trying to watch porn in the late 90's on AOL dialup. watching that interlaced GIF come in one scan line at a time...

Either you did your math wrong, or your internet is between 0.68 and 1.02 Mbit/s???

I didn't realize it was even possible to get a connection that slow anymore.

Probably wrong math

I can get 6Mb on a good day outside of prime time.
ISP does “maintenance” every morning starting at 7am and runs until ... whenever they get done. Speed there drops ... sometimes entirely.
Just downloading from Steam, on a good 24 hr period I can get about 10G. But that’s highly variable

The joys of rural DSL

Feel your pain there. Luckily my town is getting fiber installed early next year. Looking forward to downloading massive amounts and buffering free streams.

Once I have decided which GPU to put in my PC, I’ll be getting this game. I’ve seen my sons friends playing it on PS4 and it looks pretty good. In the street where we live we only have fibre, so the download size hasn’t really any bearing on it. I can see how this would certainly affect some people’s decisions though.

****, that sucks.

Honestly, I don't know why you stay :p

That's what my son keeps telling me. For him there's nothing more important than fast internet.

I wouldn't say that is true for me. There are lots of things more important than fast internet to me, but none of those would require me to live where fast internet isn't available :p
